Ingredients
- 4 1/2' lemon wedges, halved crosswise
- 1 1/2 tablespoons simple syrup
- 1/4 cup Genever, such as Bols
- 1–2 dashes dashes Dutch’s Colonial Cocktail Bitters
Recipe Preparation
Using a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon, mash lemon wedges and simple syrup in a 16-oz. mixing glass or a cocktail shaker just to release juices and oils, 4–5 times (don’t smash the ingredients into bits). Add Bols Genever and bitters. Fill an Old Fashioned glass halfway with crushed ice. Pour mixture over ice, then pour entire mixture back into mixing glass to gently mix drink. Return to Old Fashioned glass. Top drink with more crushed ice.
I am a very big fan of cognac. I love cognac so much that I allow myself to drink it no more than twice a year. What a fan I am! This should be a celebration!
