Homemade cherries are the most popular drink in Romania, the recipe being easy to prepare, and the result a delicious one, both for women and men. As is the cherry season, we offer you a cherry recipe with which you will prepare the guests.

Although it is simple to make, the house cherry is prepared in stages and will be good to drink after 10 weeks.

Ingredients for homemade cherries, 5 liter portion:

  • 6 kilograms of cherries
  • 2.5 kilograms of sugar
  • 1.2 liters of refined double alcohol or quality vodka

How is it prepared?

The ripe cherries are cleaned of leaves and stalks, washed and left to dry. Place in layers with the sugar in a jug or jar, which you have at hand. The last row will definitely be sugar. Cover the container with gauze so that the cherries can breathe.

Leave the composition to soak for 10 days, until the sugar melts and leaves the cherry juice. Do not add alcohol before the sugar melts completely because the sour cherry will not be tasty.

When well soaked, pour the refined double alcohol over the cherries and mix well. The container is tightly closed.

The cherries with alcohol are left to soak for another 2 months (8 weeks), but it can be even longer.

When the sour cherry is ready, strain it and pour it into sterilized bottles (not plastic!), Which you close tightly.

Because it tastes sweet, both because of the fruit and because of the sugar, nutritionists recommend drinking cherries with caution, because we risk getting drunk very quickly.

  • 1.2 kg of sugar
  • 600 ml of 96 degree alcohol or 600 ml of very good quality vodka or 600 ml of brandy.
  1. Wash the cherries well, without removing the seeds, then put them in a bowl and pour the sugar over the fruit.

Cherry brandy. Three simple recipes to prepare the drink

Cherry brandy. Cherry is a red or pink alcoholic beverage, very fragrant, with a sweet, fruity taste. Because it has a sweet taste, both due to the fruit and due to the sugar, nutritionists recommend drinking cherries with caution, because we risk getting drunk very quickly: effect given by the high sugar content, which accelerates the appearance of drunkenness.

1. Cherry. First recipe:

Ingredient:

â— one kilogram of ripe cherries
â— 500 grams of sugar
â— half a liter of double refined alcohol of 90 degrees

Cherry brandy. Method of preparation:

The ripe cherries are cleaned of leaves and stalks, washed and left to dry. After they have dried, they are carefully poured into a glass jug. Put a row of cherries, a row of sugar, and the last layer must be sugar. Close the carafe well and leave it to soak, in a well-lit place and in the heat, for about a week, until the sugar melts to form a syrup. During all this time, daily, the broth must be shaken for the fruit to mix with the sugar. When the sugar has melted and the syrup is formed, add the alcohol and leave it for another three weeks, during which time the carafe will be shaken every two days and kept in a dark and cooler place. After this period, carefully draw the liquid into the bottles, without shaking the contents too hard. The cherries left in the carafe can be used to prepare cakes or simply eaten.

2. Cherry. The second recipe:

Ingredient:

â— three kilograms of cherries
â— two kilograms of sugar
â— two liters of unflavored vodka
â— two liters of water

Cherry brandy. Method of preparation:

After the fruits have been cleaned of stalks, leaves and have been thoroughly washed, they are placed in a five-liter jug. After a layer of cherries, add a layer of sugar, and the last layer must be sugar. Then the damigeana is covered with a cork and left in the sun for 4 days. During this period, the contents are mixed from time to time. Then add vodka and water and leave in a cool, dark place for a week. After this period, carefully draw the liquid into the bottles, without shaking the contents too hard.

3. Cherry. The third recipe:

â— a kilogram of cherries
â— 400 grams of sugar
â— 500 milliliters of brandy
â— 150 grams of raspberries
â— 150 grams of blueberries
â— a bottle of rum

Cherry brandy. Method of preparation:

The cherries, raspberries and blueberries are washed and placed in a wide-mouthed bottle, and the sugar is placed over them. Tie the bottle tightly to the mouth and put it in the sun for three days, until the syrup is left in the cherries. After these days, pour the alcohol and the bottle of rum over the syrup and leave it to soak for another four days, after which it can be filled with water, depending on how strong you want the cherries to be. This cherry recipe will give the drink a special taste, thanks to the combinations of ingredients.

HOW IS GIN TONIC PREPARED?

Gin tonic is one of the simplest and most popular cocktails in the world. It is an ideal drink in the hot season. It seems that gin is used in most cocktails, after martinis.

Gin was discovered in the 18th century, but only after a century and a half did it reach the drink we know and consume, the paternity of the drink being disputed by the Dutch and the English, and the cocktail I show you today seems that it has its origins in India, when British settlers used gin and quinine water that was used for therapeutic purposes. They added sugar and lamiae to improve the taste and that's how they got to what we call today the GIN TONIC cocktail.

There are several types of gin: London Dry (from juniper), Plymouth (with fruity notes), Old Tom and Genver. Depending on the producers, gin can have different tastes and flavors.

I read at one point that tonic gin, although an alcoholic beverage, can benefit the body due to juniper which has antioxidant properties and does not bloat, helps the cardiovascular system and does not influence diets, having a small amount of sugar and calories.

Tonic gin is the most successful combination of an alcoholic beverage (gin) and tonic water. Tonic water is carbonated water with the addition of quinine that gives it a sweet-bitter taste. A good and cold tonic water is important for the cocktail you prepare to be a good one.

Even if only gin and tonic water are used in this cocktail, a few things are essential for it to be what you want.

Most of us drink it in tall glasses, as is the one I prepared, but it seems that a glass with a round cup and a leg is much better because the shape of the glass helps to preserve the aroma of gin.

A good tonic gin is always cold. To make sure I have a perfect Gin Tonic I put the glass in the freezer for 5 minutes and check if I have ice cubes and lime or lamiae in the house.

In the house I always have good gin, but I make sure that the tonic water I buy is of good quality and I only open it when I prepare the cocktail. For this reason, my husband only buys bottles or small doses, we do not have large tonic water bottles even in situations where we expect many guests.

The classic version of this cocktail contains only gin, tonic water and lemon slices. The ratio of gin to tonic water is 1: 1 to 1: 3, depending on the tastes and strength of the alcohol.

Regarding the type of lemon used (yellow versus lime), well opinions are divided. Some prefer lime for color and flavor, while others say ordinary lemon is best.

If you have a very good quality gin, you should not squeeze its juice, thus covering the taste of alcohol.

If you want to adapt the recipe, you can try variations on this theme by sweetening the cocktail with mango, pineapple, cranberry or citrus juices. You can add slices of cucumber, strawberry or raspberry, herbs such as rosemary or mint.

If you want to be inspired and prepare other cocktail recipes, click here and you will be directed to the collection with 10 cocktail recipes: Aperol Apritz, Hugo, Mojito, Camapari Orange and many others, just as famous.

But first try the classic version of gin and tonic cocktail:

INGREDIENT:

To prepare tonic gin I put the glass in the fridge, then I washed the lime and cut 2 slices.

I took the glass out of the freezer, I put big ice cubes (to make it harder to melt) filling almost 3/4. I put a slice of lime, I poured the gin, then the tonic water and I put the second slice of lime.

So simple and so refreshing!

In the evening I will sit on the terrace of the house with a glass of tonic gin, and for my husband I will make one mojito.

We don't have to go out on the terrace to drink our favorite cocktails, we still prefer to stay at home and keep our social distance.
